September spotlight hours 2021 in Pokemon GO

Alolan meowth

Spotlight hours take place every Tuesday at 6pm local time and lasts for one hour. These spotlight hours are usually accompanied by an in-game boost such as double catch XP or double catch Stardust to make these mini events much more appealing.

The Spotlight hours for September

Spoink

7th September 2021: Spoink – The boost for this spotlight is double catch stardust

This might be the most useful boost of all offered in the September spotlight hours given how valuable stardust is within Pokemon Go. This boost combined with a star piece item gives trainers 300 stardust per catch on a first evolution pokemon.

Baltoy

14th September 2021: Baltoy – The boost for this spotlight is double catch XP.

This is again a really handy boost for trainers and can be quadrupled with the use of a lucky egg item

Skitty

21st September 2021: Skitty – The boost for this spotlight is double catch candy

This boost combined with a pinap berry means each first evolution pokemon caught can yield 12 candies per catch or 6 candies per catch without the use of a pinap

Alolan meowth

28th September 2021: Alolan Meowth – The boost for this spotlight is double transfer candy

This is ideal for clearing out pokemon space and earning two candies instead of the usual one for each pokemon sent to professor Willow

Thoughts on the September spotlight hours

Again like the August spotlight hours, the selection of Pokemon chosen isn’t especially great. None are overly rare or especially relevant for battling in PvP etc. Hands down the best of the four spotlight hours this month is Alolan Meowth, this is because Alolan Meowth gives 750 stardust per catch vs the regular 100 for a first evolution Pokemon. This effectively makes that spotlight hour a 7.5x stardust event in addition to the double transfer candy bonus… its certainly a spotlight hour to have two starpieces handy.

The Baltoy spotlight will also be useful with the double catch XP on the week before the Oshawott community day.

As September only has four spotlight hours, it misses out on a double XP for evolving Pokemon, a boost that was included in August’s spotlight events.

Whats your thoughts on the Pokemon selected for September’s spotlight hours?
